University of Massachusetts Amherst: Computer Science Laboratories
The new 94,000-square-foot Computer Science Laboratories provides a future-focused home for one of the nation’s top-ranked computer science programs, supporting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and multidisciplinary research. Designed around a central commons that connects directly to the existing Computer Science building, the mass timber facility creates a new computing district while bringing together faculty, researchers, specialized labs, maker spaces, and collaborative work environments. Heated and cooled through a regional ground-source energy system, the building advances the University’s carbon neutrality goals and embodies the school’s commitment to “Computing for the Common Good.”
